What is ERW steel tube?

ERW or electric resistance welding process refers to a procedure that involves parallel spot and seamless welding. Electric resistance welded tubes or ERW tubes are formed by rolling coils of steel and welding across the length of the tube. These tubes are primarily required for several engineering purposes, fencing, scaffolding, line pipes etc. the Electric Resistance Welded tubes are available in a variety of qualities, wall thickness and pipe diameters. The material used in this process is specifically SAE 1010. ERW tubes are available with square ends or are beveled to meet the requirements for welding, threaded and coupled and Victaulic grooved. The surface finish are offered in black color, pure bare or with a protective coating.

What is the difference between ERW and DOM tubing?

ERW tubes are often confused with DOM or Drawn Over Mandrel pipes. Precisely, DOM tubes are not a type of steel tube, rather they are a part in the process of steel tubes are finished. These are deemed to be high quality product and are usually manufactured with SAE 1020 or 1026 steel. The primary stage of manufacturing is common for both ERW tubes and the DOM tubes, but reaching finishing stage the entire flesh weld is detached, and the tube is cold drawn over a mandrel. At times DOM tubes are referred as Seamless tubes, which is a wrong reference as it has a seam.

What are the uses of ERW steel tube?

In todays world the ERW tubes have become a basic requirement in several industries with diverse applications like in automobile sector, General engineering, propeller shaft, heat exchanger tubes etc.
